With the help of the reporting, the selected status data and other machine data resulting during the production can be displayed in a report. Furthermore, predicted data can be output. The STOLL PPS provides report types and delivers default report templates and designs (report files) for the reports to be generated. Customized designs can be added.

For the reporting you use the Birt framework. Birt allows to design and create complex reports in an easy way and to export them. The management of the reports is integrated in the STOLL PPS. The executing component, on the other hand, is provided by Birt. As usual with applications of third parties, the flexibility for changing the application appearance is limited. Therefore, the STOLL PPS style guide cannot be implemented in all its details in the Birt component. But Birt offers a range of functions that cannot be reproduced at a reasonable price.

The Reporting infrastructure consists of three elements:

• Report development: With the help of an independent application for report design, customized report files can be created and provided in the report file directory for the use in the PPS.
• Report template management: Based on the available report types, the PPS user can define any desired report templates. A report template connects a report type with a time period, a machine set and specific filter parameters. Based on a report template a concrete report can be generated at any given time via the report generation.
• Report generation: Based on report templates the generation of a concrete report can be triggered in the PPS interface. The report generation is carried out synchronically, triggered by the user and the result is represented in a separate browser window.
