How to Add a Production Device (PD)
- You know the properties of the production equipment
- You need a new device type
- And you need a new Type-ID

- Call up the Nameserver application in the browser.

- Call up the Configure and Add Production Devices function.

- Select a matching Production Device Type.
Create a new type if there is no matching type available in the selection list.
or
Save the input by click on Add & Save.
Select the newly created type.

- Use unique and clear names forProduction Device Name and Logical Name.
The Production Device Name of networking devices should correspond to the network name and meet the conventions of network names.
You can enter an identifier for the device at Logical Name.
A future version of the PPS will handle the device by its Logical Name.

- Enter the IP address of the device into the IP Address field if available.

- Keep the UID field empty if the device is registered for the first time.
The SNS will automatically make an entry.
You can enter the UID according to your own conventions as well.
Enter the UID which the device had before if you want the device to be hold within the PPS with its master data.
The UID can be used for one individual device only and must not be transferred to another device.

- Enter a number >= 5100 for the Type ID.
For devices with the same type use the same ID.
The Type ID must not be identical to any machine classes.
Never use an ID identical to any ID of Stoll machine classes.
Exception: For TC machines the machine class is to be entered. The PPS recognizes the machine via the device type as TC machine. The Production Device Name must correspond to the network name of the machine. Then, the machine state can be shown. VNC remote accesses will be possible.

- Enter a description of the device into the Description field in order to allocate the device easily to its purpose.

- Enter a description of the location into the Location field.

- Confirm entries with Add & Save.
- The dialog box is closed.
The production device appears in the Default group. - 11
- Allocate the production device to the desired group via the Move to Group picklist.
- 12
- Adjust properties.
- The production device is listed within the desired group with the desired properties.
