Background Information on SNS
Technique of Networking
- The SNS application creates an application layer overlapping the TCP/IP network
- With every access to a computer (file service or KnitLAN) SNS will be requested.
- This access will not work with failure of the SNS. You have to restart the SNS is this case. You can reload saved configuration data.
- You register a computer at the SNS via browser.
- If SNS is active for a OKC machine all the other participants of the SNS network will be looked up by SNS only. The "regular" network mode will not be used.
- If SNS is active for a OKC machine only registered computers will be accessible.
Shared folders will be accessed by the File Service or KnitLAN / ftp mode - All Configuration data will be saved to the SNS database. You can save the settings to a SQL file and reload them from the SQL file.
- Network participants of remote locations can be added to the SNS server.
Web Application
- The web application is free of charge for Stoll customers
- Shows the networking addresses of all participants of the SNS network
- Shows information about the configuration of knitting machines
- Enables to backup the SNS database.
- Enables the access by applications of the customer.
- All participants of the SNS network can start the web application in the browser.
Technique of the Nameserver
-
PHP Application
-
SQLite Database
-
Apache Web server
- Windows and other operating systems supported by the components above
- Knitting machines log-in automatically
The actual accessibility will not be checked. - Pattern Workstation and File Server can be entered into the database.
- Replaces the WINS Microsoft service
Knitting machine
- Available from operating system OKC V5.0 on and EKC
- You can configure KnitLAN or SNS
-
Network Favorites is not available with SNS activated
-
OKC machines are identified with their MAC or UID address by the SNS
- The OKC machine finds the SNS automatically if it is networking with its default name (stoll-sns).
You have to enter a divergent name of the SNS at the machine in the Network Configuration window. - If SNS is active the participants will be displayed as tree structure.
Covering the Products
-
PPS utilizes the SNS
-
SKR is a separate application.
Redundant information will not be synchronized.
