How to Manage Devices in PPS

Before being able of transferring a device from the SNS to the management of the PPS, you need to create an appropriate device type for Stoll machines that are not be added as passive device and which are not yet known. The PPS Server Suite comes with a list of known devices, however, new machine types may be missing.

In case of production devices and file servers a basic information of a device type is entered automatically, which you can complete later on. Before importing them, these devices must have assigned, however a type ID in the SNS, as the devices will not be included in the PPS otherwise. How to import a device from the SNS into the PPS:

    Select Devices in the main menu.

    Select the SNS import tab of the 2nd level.

    Select the desired device from the SNS devices list.

    Click the <- import button.
  1. The device is now imported.
    If it is about a Stoll machine with PPS operating system, this operation can take a while. As configuration data are transferred and the status is synchronized. You will see an orange bar.
    The machine must be activated for the PPS option and the ticket management may not be deactivated.
    The version of the machine operating system must be compatible with the PPS software. Otherwise, you will receive an error message from PPS.
  1. In case of success, the device appears in the list of devices at the left. It is possible then to apply allowed functions to this device type in the PPS.

How to Remove a Device from PPS:

    Select Devices in the main menu.
    2
    Select the SNS import tab of the 2nd level.

    Select the desired device from the left list of devices.

    Click on the -> export button.
  1. The device is now removed from the PPS and does no longer appear in the device list.
    The floor location data, group allocation, assigned printers, type information and possible order information remain in the PPS. When you import the device again, these data will be linked again.
