Working with the devoré equipment

The running reliability of the pattern depends on:

Yarn Thickness

The yarn thickness of binding thread and motif thread together shall have this final count (Nm):
E7.2: 14 - 20
E16: 20 – 30
E18m.16: 20 – 30
E18: 20 – 40

If the yarn is to thick (lower final count), yarn breaks may occur.

Binding Thread

The binding thread may be thinner than the motif thread.

The binding thread may not be too voluminous, otherwise it will break.

  Carriage Speed

Start with a somewhat lower carriage speed (e.g. 0.7 m/sec) and increase it step by step.
Maximum carriage speed: 1.0 m/sec

Reduce the carriage speed if the motif thread breaks.

Stitch Length, Take-down Value

Set shorter stitch length (NP by 1.0 - 2.0 less) and higher take-down value to get the needle latches securely closed.

If the binding thread tears during the production

We recommend:
Switch the needle selection off and re-start the fabric.
Reason: If the binding thread tears the needle latches are in an undefined state and can collide with the yarn carrier for the motif thread (damage of the needle latches).

Gauge E 7.2 MG

The Devoré Kit of gauge E 7.2 MG contains two yarn carriers of gauge E16 – E18:

  • Yarn Carrier 1B
  • Yarn Carrier 2B

For some patterns, the problem may arise that the yarn is not laid properly into the needle. The yarn carrier should be set lower to be able to lay the thread properly into the needle. But the width of the yarn carrier head does not allow this.

Remedy:
Use a yarn carrier of gauge E16 – E18.
The yarn carrier head of gauge E16 – E18 is smaller than the one of gauge E7.2 MG. Due to it, you can set this yarn carrier to a lower level.
