System Requirements
If the files (patterns and others) are to be transferred via the PPS server, please, take into account that the Windows operating systems, which are not intended for server operation, contain a restriction regarding the number of file accesses via the network within a given time period. Starting from 30-40 devices you will experience more frequently that the files cannot be read temporarily. You can bypass this using an FTP server (the PPS Server Suite is delivered with one) or using a server operating system, which is not limited. Another option is a file server for the file exchange with shared directories in the PPS. This has also the advantage that the PPS server is relieved.
On principle we recommend using a server operating system for an easy file access. Instructions about this problem can be found here under the Access to Shared Drives: Performance and Scaling
Possible operating systems
The PPS Server Suite can be installed on the following operating systems:
- Windows 10
- Enterprise Edition
- 64 Bit
- Windows Server 2012 R2
- As Member Server
- Not as Domain Controller
- Windows Server 2016 R2

For all the versions, the English language pack must be installed for STOLL to be able to offer the Remote Service.
Pay attention to regular updates to ensure ongoing support.
Hardware Requirements
The PC must meet the following conditions for installing the PPS Server Suite:
- Processor
- Performance category 8 core Xeon E5 v3 (e.g. Xeon E5-1660 v3 3.00 GHz) or faster
- RAM
16 GBwith ECC (Error Correction Coder) - For standard installations up to 100 clients:
a minimum of 16 GB RAM - For larger installations for more than 100 clients:
a minimum of 32 GB RAM - Network
- Gigabit network board
- Structured cabling according to (EN 50173-1 (Europe), ISO/IEC 11801:2002, TIA/EIA 568)
- For the installation support, the UDP messages may not be blocked on port 7103 If the PPS and the machine are in different segments, this UDP message must be transferred also across segments.
- For OKC machines to be able to access network drives, the SMB protocol (Server Message Block) must be active in version 1. In case of a more new windows operating system, SMB1 is no longer installed by Microsoft by default. The PPS installation installs and activates SMB1. If you need releases on other PCs, you must ensure yourself, that the SMB1 support is available (see https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/help/2696547/detect-enable-disable-smbv1-smbv2-smbv3-in-windows-and-windows-server).
- Hard disk memory
- System disk: SSD > 250 GB
- Data disk: SSD > 500 GB
- Use SSDs with PCIe connection
- A minimum of 1 GB data storage must be available per machine.
- Graphic board
- DirectX 9 graphic device with WDDM 1.0- or higher driver with 2 or more Monitor connectors
- USB 3.0 port for backups
