Reference hardware

• CPU:
  4 x Intel Xeon CPU E5-1607 3.00GHz

  For all data SSDs is recommended a SATA-III-Standard (SATA 600, SATA 3, SATA 6 Gb/s) Controller, so that the fast access times of the SSDs can be fully exploited.

  With good access times and a long warranty period of 10 years.
• Samsung 850 EVO
• The information is for orientation.
  As the technical progress continues permanently, ask for the currently fastest components in case of a new acquisition.  To be observed:
• Components matching each other
• No components nullifying the performance of another
• Matching industrial requirements
• Reliability

UPS

Particularly in regions where the power supply is not reliably available, an uninterruptible power supply is to be ensured to prevent the data from corrupting. In any case use the delivered live backup software and perform full backups of the hard disk with an appropriate software with regular intervals.

Monitor

Use criteria of ergonomics of modern LCD monitors as a guide for selecting the correct monitor. The optimum screen resolution depends on the size of the display. You need a minimum of 1024x768 for the PPS. The pixels for the window border, tab bar, menus, status bar, etc of the browser are to be added. So that a resolution of more than approx. 1060x880 is requested to avoid scrolling. We recommend 23 inch Full HD (1920x1080) monitors or two 20 inch displays with 1680x1050. The last mentioned combination allows you to see more of the timeline. Larger displays with better resolution are also possible and they increase the comfort.

Skype

The PPS supports the utilization of Skype, which allows a web based communication among clients. It is possible to exchange text messages, have video conferences and exchange files.

To use Skype, the Skype software must be installed on each of the clients previewed to communicate which each other. You can download the software for mobile devices from the corresponding app stores and for the PC from www.skype.com. For Skype to function, the clients need access to the internet and you have to setup a Skype account with Skype. Before connecting Skype via the PPS, install and setup Skype independently from PPS and test the installation.

The PPS is not involved in the data flow of Skype. It transfers only the partner with whom you want to communicate to the Skype software.

Operating System

Use a Windows operating system only for the PPS server.
System Requirements

SMS

You can send SMS via an E-Mail to SMS Gateway provider (see Installing an E-mail to SMS Gateway). For this, the PPS must be able to reach an e-mail server.

Virus scanner

A regular virus scanning is recommended in order to use PPS Server Suite in a safe and reliable manner. Ensure that the installation is automatically updated with the current virus signature.

By all means take into account that some folders must be excluded from scanning to maintain the performance of the PPS. (see Security)
